Harrisonburg slows down in the summer—which means it’s the perfect time to experience downtown without the crowds. From local food and coffee spots to live music and festivals, there’s always something happening just steps from your building.
Living at Urban Exchange, City Exchange, Ice House, Keezell Flats, The Walton, or Kavanaugh? You’re already in the middle of it all. Here are a few ways to fill your summer days—and nights:
1. Best.Weekend.Ever.
On Saturday, June 14th, downtown Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance kicks off the Best.Weekend.Ever., our city’s biggest summer festival. Enjoy live music, food trucks, local vendors, community art projects, and exciting activities for all ages—including the creative mini-golf course, “Best. Putt Putt. Ever.”. Don’t forget to wear your Matchbox T-shirt and celebrate summer with your community!
2. Levitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series
Enjoy free, live outdoor concerts with the Levitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series every Wednesday at 6:30pm starting June 25 at Turner Pavilion. Bring your friends, a picnic blanket, and enjoy a diverse lineup of artists, a beer garden, and a welcoming community vibe! It’s a perfect way to spend a summer evening downtown.
3. First Fridays Downtown
Starting June 6, First Fridays Downtown let you explore local art galleries, enjoy live music, and discover pop-up exhibits all across downtown. It’s a great way to kick off the weekend and experience the creative side of Harrisonburg.
4. The Community Mosaic Project at OASIS Fine Art & Craft
Celebrate OASIS’ 25th anniversary by participating in this collaborative art project. Stop by the gallery to add your own piece to the mosaic or just enjoy the creativity on display.
5. Trivia at Sage Bird Ciderworks
Grab your friends and head to Sage Bird Ciderworks every Thursday from 8–10pm for free weekly taproom trivia. Teams can be up to four players, and there are cool prizes for the winners! No registration needed—just show up, pick a creative team name, and see if you can outsmart the competition while enjoying great local cider.
6. SINGO at Pale Fire Brewing Co.
Add a musical twist to your Thursday nights with SINGO at Pale Fire Brewing Co. Every Thursday at 7pm, play this fun, free game that’s like bingo but with popular song clips instead of numbers. Sing along if you want, match the song titles on your card, and shout “SINGO!” for a chance to win prizes. Each week features two rounds with unique music themes, so there’s always something new!
